Creating ten 1 m x 1m paintings on canvas
The beginning
I started by painting a rich warm layer of burnt sienna, working on the floor, on the easel with brushes and tools and then bringing in some of the other colours. I worked on 5 at a time so that I could experiment on one painting and if it worked use this on the others. I also had an extra canvas for using extra paint and testing colours. I had a lot of fun at this stage
Building up the layers
Working around flood repairs on the house and studio
Refining
Creating thin glazed areas with subtle differences, adapting forms, more layering. Considerations . Lightening areas, adding contrast. Bringing back loose brushwork to bring the life back.
